I LOVE CROYDON is a guest series on my blog for locals to submit videos and written posts talking about all (good) things related to Croydon and the surrounding areas.
In light of recent events in our town, I think a platform where people can accentuate the positive aspects of the area is needed more than ever.
Topics you might like to write about might include:
What is your favourite shop in Croydon?
Notable Croydon characters or people
Favourite places or memories
Guidelines for submissions:
- Videos: Must be uploaded to Youtube or Vimeo and no longer than 90 seconds
- Written posts: No less that 300 words and no more than 500 words. Please also attach relevant photo(s) to break up the text.

N.B: I won’t publish a submission if I deem material in it to be offensive or inappropriate. ‘llow me.

My favourite part of Croydon is Surrey Street Market. It has two ancient Royal Charters which is testament to the quality and staying power of the place. I don’t know why people bother with the supermarkets when this fantastic facility is on the doorstep. You can really good quality fruit and vegetables so cheap they’re practically giving it away. There is a meat market and fish shop too. The food is so good I always eat what I buy-unlike the rare occasion I go to Tescos and end up with a load of stuff I did not want. My favourite stall is the flower market at the end of the street which sells amazing plants which thrive in the garden. The stall holder has worked on the market for years and is a real enthusiast for the place. After shopping at this wonderful market, you’ll find a trip to one of the big 4 supermarkets a 2nd rate experience.
Paula,
Thanks for being the first respondee and sharing the above.
Surrey Street Market is a brilliant place and I’m sure many have had great experiences there. I know I have!
Let me know if you’d like to expand on the above in a full post.
Thank you

I’ll write you a post after the election if you like. With my observations as an outsiders first 6 intense weeks as an insider. Positive only
It will be on Croydon’s political economy, though not flaming anyone.
